Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,
On behalf of the Governors, staff and pupils, I am delighted to welcome you and your child(ren) to Longshaw Community Infant School and Longshaw Nursery, where children are at the heart of every decision that we make. Our vision is for every child at Longshaw Infant School and Longshaw Nursery School to receive a high-quality education that equips them with the necessary skills to be confident, resilient, articulate and successful learners who are able to compete in the 21st Century and aspire to be the best version of themselves in a holistic sense.
In May 2021, Longshaw Community Infant School and Longshaw Nursery federated. In September 2022, a long awaited building project to build Longshaw Nursery in the grounds of the Infant School commenced. On the 4th September 2023, we 'opened the doors' of Longshaw Nursery in the grounds of the Infant School. Visitors to the Infants, may have to walk past our new Nursery to get to the Infants. We are extremely delighted with our new Nursery and we look forward to welcoming existing pupils and potential new ones, to share in our delight.
First impressions do count, so we would be happy to show you round and answer any questions that you may have. I firmly believe that a trusting partnership between home and school lies at the heart of a successful learning journey for your child(ren). We would encourage you to play an active role in school life through: supporting with homework activities; reading with your children daily; attending special events and in a variety of other ways eg special projects.
I am proud to be part of a school team where the children are not only at the heart of every decision we make, but they are also the heart beat of Longshaw Community. Staff at Longshaw do make a 'difference' to the lives of every child that starts their journey at Longshaw Nursery and then transitions to Longshaw Infants.
