I am pleased to inform you that the Governors of Longshaw have appointed Mrs Batley’s successor for the spring term. Mrs Joanne Leek will take up the post of Acting Headteacher at both the Infant and the Nursery Schools in January. She has sent the following message and hopes to be able to visit both schools as soon as it can be arranged.
Hello Parents and Carers
I would have loved to introduce myself to you all in person but due to Covid restrictions, I will tell you a little about me through your school newsletter. I am extremely excited about becoming your Acting Headteacher during the spring term of 2021. I am currently the Deputy Head at Cedars Primary School in Blackburn but for the past year I have been Acting Headteacher, in the absence of the substantive Head. I have a passion for education and have worked in schools, in different capacities, for over 30 years. After visiting Longshaw a couple of weeks ago I instantly decided that I wanted to be part of the Longshaw team. For me, the icing on the cake was how passionate Mrs Batley was about the pupils, staff and the school community. I am looking forward to meeting you all after the half term.
