Butterflies Class 2021/2022

Welcome to our class page!

I will be posting on here regularly to show you lots of the exciting things Butterflies Class will be doing in school.

We are very lucky to have Miss Davis and Mrs Mahoney in the classroom with us.

Autumn 1

Our settling in topic for this term is 'Why do you like your teddy?'

As part of this topic children will be encouraged to talk about how they are feeling and listen to others. Children will take part in circle time games to develop their new friendships. They will talk about different teddy bears and say what they like about them, sharing their own thoughts and using new words to describe them.

We will read and explore lots of teddy-themed booked and children will be given the opportunity to choose which books they would like to listen to next.

Children will have lots of opportunities to access creative activities such as painting self portraits and building impressive creations in the construction areas.

Later on this half term we will be exploring, 'What are your favourite things?' and 'Who's in your family?'

Children will begin to learn Phonics during daily lessons. They will consolidate their knowledge of the sounds being taught throughout different activities. Through daily maths lessons we will begin to explore numbers and patterns.

Children will be encouraged to talk about members of their family. We will use family photographs to talk about our own families and how they differ from others.

We will explore colour and colour mixing. Children will learn how to access the creative area independently to achieve an outcome.

On Friday mornings we will be learning outside with 'Hedgehog' in the forest school who has lots of exciting activities planned for you!

The Butterflies class will have PE lessons every Wednesday so please make sure they have a suitable kit in school. Our school PE kit is a white T-Shirt, blue or black shirts and pumps.

As the term continues children will be given a blue school bag and a reading book. Please make sure you read with your child every night and sign their home reading record.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me on the playground door as you drop your child off or pick them up.
