Butterflies Class 2021/2022

Welcome to our class page!

I will be posting on here regularly to show you lots of the exciting things Butterflies Class will be doing in school.

We are very lucky to have Miss Davis and Mrs Mahoney in the classroom with us.

Spring Term

In the first half term we will be exploring the question - Where would you like to go and how would you get there?

Children will continue to take part in daily phonics lessons. They will be given plenty of opportunities to apply their learning through lots of different stimulus. This half term each child will become an explorer as we visit different environments through texts such as Whatever Next, Lost and Found, Commotion in the Ocean and Rumble in the Jungle.

In maths sessions we will continue to develop the understanding of numbers within 5 and use this knowledge to explore numbers 6, 7 and 8. We will explore one more and one less than a given number.

Children will continue to learn new vocabulary they are exposed to through stories. Within our carpet sessions in class we will begin to develop the children’s ability to take turns when they are sharing their ideas and listen to their friends when they are talking, responding to their ideas.

Children will continue to explore colour to create their own paintings of different settings. They will create their own mode of transport to travel to their desired setting.

Please don’t forget that children’s book bags need to be in school daily and reading records should be signed to show that children are reading at home 5 times a week. Reception children will have two PE sessions a week and full PE kits needs to be in school for this. Earrings should not be worn for school in line with the uniform policy.
