Intent
Our science curriculum inspires children to be curious and excited about the world around them. Through hands-on activities and investigations, they explore how things work and learn by asking questions and discovering answers. We help them understand that making mistakes is part of learning — just like real scientists, they use these experiences to grow their knowledge and spark new ideas.

Impact
Science is assessed using the following methods:
Ongoing informal observations and judgements by staff during lessons
Verbal feedback that provides pupils with immediate next steps
Pupil self-assessments and peer assessments
Sonar and White Rose Maths assessment
Assessments take place at both the beginning and end of each topic, enabling teachers to identify pupils’ prior knowledge and measure progress over time.
