History
History at Longshaw
Intent
The teaching of History at Longshaw will enable pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It will inspire pupils’ curiosity about the past and teach them the chronology of important historical events. Children will be encouraged to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh up evidence and develop perspective and judgement about events. Children will have real-life experiences, explore artefacts and learn about the past in active and creative ways.

- immediate next steps provided via verbal feedback
- pupil and peer assessments
- Sonar Assessments
History is assessed throughout the year, ensuring that they have a clear understanding of children's next steps and gaps in learning.
