Welcome to Butterflies' Class Page 

_{My name is Mrs Middleton and I am the teacher in Butterflies Class.} 

_{We also have Mrs Khan supporting us in our class!} 

Please read below all the exciting things we are going to be doing in Autumn 2

Our topic this term is Into the Woods. We will continue our learning about autumn and begin to think about how seasons change as we move into winter. We will also learn about different festivals and celebrations as we learn all about Halloween, Bonfire Night, Diwali, Remembrance Day and Christmas. 

Our Core Text is: The Gruffalo

We will also be reading lots of other exciting texts, such as: 

In Maths we are learning… 

1. To sort numbers by amounts.
2. To understand one more and one less than a given number.
3. To understand positional language and use it accurately.
4. To recognise triangles and circles in everyday objects.

We will use what we have already learnt in our maths lessons and begin to apply this to other concepts to deepen our understanding of number, how to solve problems and continue to work as a group and with increasing independence.

In Phonics we are learning… 

1. How to recognise tricky words.
2. To segment words to support our writing.
3. To blend words to support our reading.

We will finish learning Phase 2 sounds and use these throughout our guided reading, literacy and writing sessions applying what we have learnt as a group and with increasing independence.

Please don’t forget that children’s book bags need to be in school daily and reading records should be signed to show that children are reading at home 5 times a week.

Butterflies have PE on Thursdays so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school. 

Only stud earrings should not be worn for school in line with the uniform policy.
